Rams Cheerleaders Getting Ready for 2011 Season

The Langley Rams Cheer team kicked off their season in full swing. Two of last years captains Mary Grandjambe and Bronwynne Sove have stepped up to join the coaching staff, both as assistant coaches for the 2011 season.

The teams 2011 began in January when they held their annual tryouts.  After some intense competition the team would like to welcome Alysha, Erica, Megan and Ranna as the newest members of the group. This now brings the team to a total of 15 amazing ladies, all ecstatic for the 2011 Langley Rams season.

With team practices every Tuesday night, Melanie Hopkins is certain her girls will more be more than ready come July 30th when the Rams kick off their season in Nanaimo against the VI Raiders. Melanie further goes on to say “working together to prepare routines, cheers, dances, pyramids and stunts for the 2011 football season... they (Rams Cheer team) are pumped and ready to go and can’t wait to show their hard work in their new home McLeod Stadium in Langley.”

May kicked off with their Spring Cheerleading Stunt Camp at the Champion Cheerleading gym where the team worked extensively on improving their stunting skills under the instruction of Shawn Smith from Total Spirit Cheerleading and the teams coaching staff. Great job Ladies you defiantly pushed the limits.

Some upcoming events are the weekly Car washes set up for every Saturday in June at Good Year Fountain Tire on 153 and Fraser Hwy in Surrey and the BC Children’sHospital Heroes Run June 5th where we will be performing and cheering on the kids and runners.  Make sure you get out there and support the Langley Rams Cheer team and don’t miss a beat of their action by visiting http://langleyrams.cheerweb.net

Rams 2011 Spring Camp May 13, 14, 15

As the Rams are only a day away from their 2011 Spring Camp at McLeod Stadium in Langley there is nothing short of high expectations from the coaching staff and Head Coach Jeff Alamahoda.

Coach Alamahoda is quite pleased with what is an expected 100+ players for this weekend’s camp. The Rams have approximately 25 core returning players that comprise of big role leaders such as 6’4” 240lb DL Kurt Pedersen - a 2010 Provincial All-star, last years breakout QB Nate White, two time receiving and special teams MVP and explosive player Nick Downey, 6’0” 200lb RB Malcolm Freeman, and 6’1” 190lb Nick Felicella. With this core group of players the Rams are sure to set precedence in the BCFC as a dominate force for the 2011 season.

Beyond the returning players coach Alamahoda is thrilled with the prospects and new talent set to arrive at camp this weekend. Some key players include Jerod Zalleski, Mike Higham, Ben Olson, Senior Bowl Defensive MVP Justin Seke, Mission Niners Tailback Kyle Alvertini, and Defensive Linemen from the University of Alberta Jas Dhillion. With skilled and talented players coming to camp like this the Rams are not only setting up for a Canadian Championship run but also showcasing the success of the new Rams coaching staffs hard efforts with offseason recruitment.

Guiding these players through the grueling three days will come with help of many guest coaches. Alamahoda has lined up some great CFL experienced members including Tye Smith, Tyson Craiggs, Brady Browne, Ryan Lucan, Kensley Palmer, Julian Radlein and two time Grey Cup Champion Will Loftus. Also in camp as guest coach will be Ryan Payette who won a 2007 Vanier Cup as a member of the Manitoba Bisons and former Boston College player KJ Turksen.

The Rams would like to thank big name sponsors of this weekend's camp including Buy Low Foods and Big Kahuna Sports for their generous donations.

The three day camp is set to be a great event with practices Friday, Saturday and Sunday all culminating with a live scrimmage Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm. We invite the Langley Community and Football Community alike to come down and catch all the action at McLeod Stadium, 214a Street at 57a Avenue Langley, BC.

Langley Rams take on a new leader for 2011 season

The Langley Rams Junior Football Club dug deep to find the perfect leader for their 2011 Canadian Junior Football League season. The organization is pleased to announce Jeff Alamolhoda has been promoted to the position of Head Coach of the new Langley Rams.

Jeff is a native with deep roots in Langley. He grew up playing within the Langley Minor Football organization and further attended Langley Senior Secondary to later graduate from Garibaldi Secondary in Maple Ridge.
Alamolhoda brings an extensive Junior Football background to the Rams program both as a player and most now as a coach.

Jeff spent the past three seasons as the number two man, and defensive coordinator of the Chilliwack Huskers Junior Football program, prior to that was on the staff of the Prairie Football Conference’s Winnipeg Rifles Junior Football program, where he helped out as a linebacker coach while attending the University of Manitoba.

Alamolhoda enrolled at University of Manitoba in 2003 and started at linebacker in four of the five seasons he was with the Bisons program. Alamolhoda finished his stellar CIS career by leading the Bisons to a Vanier Cup National Championship in 2007.

A product of the local community program and BCFC, Jeff played Midget football for the Coquitlam Falcons and then joined the BC Junior Football Conference's Vancouver Trojans in 1999. He played two seasons there before moving to the Tri-City (Coquitlam) Bulldogs Junior program. Playing two seasons for the Dawgs, and under the guidance of legendary BCFC Head Coach Nick Kawaza, Alamolhoda was selected to the BCFC All Star team and honoured as the Conference’s most outstanding linebacker in both 2001 and 2002. Jeff was also selected as the 2002 BCFC Defensive Player of the Year and was a nominee for the Canadian Junior Football League’s 2002 Defensive Player of the Year Award.

Off the field Jeff teaches life skills to high risk youth at an Alternate High School in Maple Ridge. Once again a resident of Langley he and his wife Lisa are busy raising their 18 month old son Darius.

We are excited to have Jeff as a valued member of the Langley Rams organization and look forward to the explosive product he puts on the field.
